If you have a GoPro camera and would like to take images like the one seen above, you want a dome lens. Though if you’re very careful, you can accomplish this type of shot with a normal GoPro, but you have to place camera very accurately where the water meets the air, a difficult proposition given the waves that nearly always exist in a body of water. A dome lens gives you several inches of positional leeway, and you can build your own following the instructions after the “read more” link!
If you place a GoPro Camera on top of a Roomba, what happens? This more-or-less unproduced video gives an explanation, though you might be left wondering why it’s 10:00 long. My guess is the uploader ran into a limit on YouTube, however, it’s worth fast-forwarding to (spoiler alert) where the camera gets knocked off around 4:50, then run over just after 5:15.

You may have considered using two GoPro cameras side-by-side for a 3D-rig, but what about a dual GoPro mount so that each can face in opposite directions? This would allow you to capture both a front and back view, and with this rig you can mount your cameras in as a car, snowboard, bicycle, or other items/vehicles. The resulting footage, when stitched together, could be quite interesting.
Although there are certainly many ways to do this, the method below looks like it would work quite well. Made out of aluminum, two J-hook buckles and a pivot arm, it should keep your cameras secure in many different situations.
On the other hand, this design could certainly act as inspiration for other builds. For that matter, the shop seen in the video, with an impressive array of well-organized hand tools could serve as inspiration to update your garage!
